Class Description
The Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging provides departmental leadership and direction consistent with the strategic vision of both the division of Academic and Student Affairs and the College. Cross-divisional collaboration and support are essential elements of the position.
Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field required. Three (3) years of supervisory experience is required. Five (5) years of experience advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging with the ability to work with, advise, and support the success of culturally, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse students from diverse disciplines, preferably at a community college. Experience serving as a content-related expert and resource to faculty members, students, and staff working with students is required. Experience with developing and implementing goals, learning outcomes and assessment programs is preferred.

Compensation within the above posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

Position Specific Essential Duties
Student Development and Support
  • Identify, develop, implement, assess, and evaluate programs and services that serve to promote student development with particular emphasis on social justice, intercultural competency, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Provide strong and effective leadership for the Institute for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion including, but not limited to: (a) ensuring its mission and purpose are relevant; (b) addressing current and emerging needs of the campus community; (c) establishing and managing budgets; and (c) identifying and seeking external grant funding for programs and services.
  • Develop and implement diversity and social justice education programs designed to create transformational education spaces that create awareness, enhance campus climate, and encourage self-agency.
  • Responsible for coordinating the annual President’s Distinguished African-American Lecture series.
  • Identify, develop, and implement diversity and inclusion awareness training programs in collaboration with other campus programming such as admission events, CRTL, student orientation, and student leadership programs.
  • Work closely with Student Life teams to cultivate partnerships for programming opportunities.
  • Supervise the Cultural Responsive Teaching and Learning (CRTL) program and Institute for Social Justice.
  • Work collaboratively across the college to support the implementation of actions identified by the President’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council.
Institutional and College Life Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on matters related to, but not limited to, student and campus diversity.
  • Identify and propose strategic recommendations that support the enhancement of campus climate and divisional goals to provide a positive, inclusive and successful student experience, especially those goals with respect to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Serve as a resource among all college constituencies to assist in advancing the diversity and social justice mission of the college.
  • Plan and manage budgets related to diversity initiatives; and obtain funding for programs, activities, and initiatives.

Long-Term Disability

Plan pays 60% of gross monthly salary after 90 consecutive days of absence. Employee pays 100% of premium.

    The 403(b) supplemental retirement plan is available to all CCBC employees (Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees).
  • Roth 403(b) is a savings feature that is available when you open a 403(b) account. The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth 403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.

McDaniel College has extended its Educator’s Legacy Scholarship (ELS) program to CCBC benefits-eligible employees. CCBC is among the inaugural community college partners.
